Santiago, Chile, 31 May 2018: ACCIÓN Empresas, WBCSD’s Global Network partner in Chile, has kicked off a collaborative program on business and human rights that brings together 11 companies from the mining, utilities, and energy sector alongside academia, international organizations and civil society actors.

The program will last for two and a half years and will seek to build capacity within company teams, embed human rights principles in corporate governance, and underscore the importance of effective and transparent dialogues among stakeholders in view of reducing conflicts around investments in the abovementioned sectors.

The extractives industry accounts for 14% of Chile’s GDP. Current program participants include Antofagasta Minerals, CAP, Codelco, Enap, AngloAmerican, Grupo Polpaico, Colbún, Enel, Engie, AES Gener and Statkraft.
