Enel X: EV adoption for employee vehicles

Type: Case study

Part of Enel Group, Enel X is a company that develops, promotes and sells innovative products and services in the electric mobility sector, including EV charging infrastructure and network management applications. The market mission of Enel X is to become one of the key electric mobility players in the world.

The company has developed concrete actions involving their own employees, operations, customers and suppliers, aiming both at reducing GHG emissions and incentivizing circular economy approaches and business models.

Among these actions was the initiative to adopt a corporate fleet of EVs by the end of 2019 and to introduce an EV car-sharing service for all employees.

To implement this project, Enel X involved the top management in designing the adoption plan, included feedback from users and leveraged the Enel Corporate Sustainability Strategy. This approach allowed the company to influence internal stakeholder behavior and raise employee awareness around the significance of Enel’s EV transition.

The switch to electric was kicked off by a tender for fleet renewal and the deployment plan was scheduled for a period of two years. After successfully implementing the initiative, Enel X managed to decrease their GHG emissions and enhanced a positive company branding.
