Nature loss is a material business risk. Companies increasingly face expectations from investors, regulators, customers and clients to understand and manage their nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities. Yet for many organizations, the challenge is not awareness of nature-related disclosures but their implementation in a focused, practical and business-relevant way.
Learning to LEAP draws on the experiences of 153 organizations and 235 participants of the Nature Reporting Preparer Forum (NRPF), a capacity-building program designed to help companies apply the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework and its LEAP (Locate, Evaluate, Assess and Prepare) approach in practice.
The report highlights five practical lessons that can help organizations build confidence, overcome common barriers and take the next step on their nature journey, supported by 11 case studies and the business-pitch briefing tool.
Five Lessons from Applying LEAP
Whether your company is starting its nature journey or strengthening an existing assessment, these five lessons can help you take a focused first step, avoid common pitfalls, build confidence and accelerate action.

Practical Resources: Business-Pitch Briefing Tool
To help organizations move from assessment to action, the Business-Pitch Briefing Tool: Making the Case for Decision-Makers was developed as a practical PowerPoint resource. The tool helps sustainability teams prepare a concise, business-led case for management approval of an initial nature assessment. It translates nature-related risks and opportunities into decision-relevant business language and provides a structured storyline for engaging leadership.
