Framework alignment notes
i
The details of a metric’s alignment to each framework, including where the same or similar metric can be found within the listed framework.
ESRS E4-5 38c Disclosure of changes in spatial configuration of landscape
CDP Biodiversity
101-7a ii. The ecosystem condition for the base year and the current reporting period;
The GRI guidance explicitly mentions: the ecosystem’s composition, function, and structure; the landscape characteristics (e.g., connectivity); should be reported
Target example
i
An example target and the target source are presented to illustrate how a target could be set for this metric. Learn more on the Methodology page.
[Company name] will avoid establishing operations in areas with a natural and semi-natural habitat cover of [target amount]% or above by [target year].
Target source: WBCSD target template
Additional target notes
According to resarch, biodiveristy's capacity to pollinate crops, regulate pests and diseases, maintain clear water, and limit soil erosion significantly declines when habitat area falls below 20%–25% per km2". However, regional differences and threshols should be considered when setting a target amount.

If company establishes operations in highly natural areas, it should take measures to maintain adequate parameters of landscape connectivity.
Sector
i
Each metric applies to one sector.
Forest
Value chain stage
i
Each metric applies to one or more stages of the value chain aligned with the associated actions.

Metric assessment
i
The relevance and feasibility scores were determined by WBCSD member companies. Learn more on the Methodology page.
Relevance:Low
Feasibility:Low
Additional information
i
Sector-specific details for each metric that are used as additional filters on the main metric page.
Product Category
i
Select one or more product categories relevant to your operations. The product category applies only to metrics for operations in the manufacturing stage of the forest value chain.
: Timber and wood products, Pulp and paper, Innovative bio-based products, Textiles
Location
i
Choose the location type for your operations. A larger number of metrics apply to rural locations, as these include forest management and certain manufacturing activities that are not relevant in urban settings.
: Rural

Restore areas of significant biodiversity value within or adjacent to processing and manufacturing operations
Protect areas of significant biodiversity value within or adjacent to processing and manufacturing operations
Avoid establishing processing and manufacturing operations in or adjacent to areas of significant biodiversity value
