Metric assessment

i

Relevance: High

Feasibility: High

Additional Metric Notes
i

Rationale: A habitat within or outside a crop that consists primarily of native, non-crop plant species. While it may be modified by human activity, it contributes to enhanced ecosystem services (IPBES & Earth Commission). There is considerable evidence supporting the importance of NSH (non-semi-natural habitat) in maintaining ecosystem services. This metric is relatively simple to measure, aligns with EII concepts, and has been recently validated. Proposed spatial scope: km² (i.e., on-farm plus up to 1 km² beyond the farm boundary, where applicable).
