Rationale:
This metric is required to define high-priority landscapes and should be assessed through the TNFD process as outlined. The scope should include areas within and around direct operations, as well as throughout the supply chain. Spatial proximity may vary depending on the regulation or standard being followed.
According to TNFD guidance, High Conservation Values (HCVs) include areas of “biological, ecological, social, or cultural value of critical importance. This suite of values includes rare, threatened, or endangered habitats and ecosystems, large landscape-scale ecosystems, intact forest landscapes, and nature’s contribution to people.”
Additional/complementary metrics:
Disaggregation by land owned vs sourced from
Specifically-designated areas: High Conservation Value (HCVs), Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs), areas of high biodiversity importance, etc
Related actions
