WBCSD’s Center for Decarbonization Demand Acceleration (CDDA)

Moving from demand ‘signal’ to ‘signature'

The decarbonization potential of value-chain action

Value chain collaboration is essential to accelerating the net-zero transition. Many companies have recognized that much of their decarbonization potential lies within their value chains and that by working together, they can lower operational costs, enhance resilience, address regulatory requirements, and open opportunities for innovation and lower costs of capital, for all. Yet without sufficient demand for decarbonized materials, products, and technologies, upstream companies can’t make the necessary investment decisions at the speed and scale needed. To address this, we started the Center for Decarbonization Demand Acceleration (CDDA).

Working as the demand-side engine of our Emission Reduction Accelerator (ERA), the CDDA is an action-oriented, results-driven platform that focuses on the demand-side policies as well as value chain approaches to solve procurement challenges. The CDDA empowers businesses with the knowledge and tools to move from a demand ‘signal’ to ‘signature’ for (i.e., investment in) near-zero carbon material, products and technologies.

We're empowering business with the tools and knowledge to procure near-zero products

Through the CDDA, companies collaborate to explore the policy and incentives needed for near-zero carbon products and equip their procurement teams to confidently identify and source these low-carbon solutions. We recognize that no single company can commercialize critical, new clean technologies alone. Together, we are driving demand for decarbonization with a value chain approach.

The CDDA helps companies to:

Support the development of demand-side policies and standards

We bring together companies from diverse value chains to evaluate emerging demand-side policies and identify the key instruments that can enhance investments in and the adoption of low-carbon products and technologies.

Build procurement capability

We support procurement teams in using a full value chain perspective to overcome barriers toward more resilient and sustainable practices through case studies and webinars.

How to benefit from the CDDA

Procurement roles can act as strategic accelerators for every company’s decarbonization and growth strategy. In support of your company’s decarbonization journey, we encourage you to use our resources, share them with your procurement team, and join our and our partners’ activities.
