31 May 2017 Leipzig, Germany: Today, at the International Transport Forum, we released our second Road Freight Lab report as part of our Road Freight Lab initiative.
WBCSD’s Road Freight Lab initiative aims to investigate and select the measures that companies can take to reduce GHG emissions from road freight transport and assesses the financial viability of scaling up solutions.
This report represents a mature stage in the process and discusses six high potential measures while attempting to quantify their benefits via data collection, modeling and other evidence.
The report also showcases potential business models and takes into account the competitive landscape, barriers, key partners and resources for reducing emissions from road freight transport, while putting forward high-level policy recommendations which aim to support implementation of Low Carbon Freight projects.
Findings show that fleet operators have significant opportunities to reduce emissions from freight transport, but that solutions related to optimization, delivery time windows and asset sharing are either not known or the market does not yet offer many commercial solutions.
We look forward to progressing our Road Freight Lab solutions over the course of this year. Check out the report and stay tuned for updates.
