respACT - Austrian Business Council for Sustainable Development has been Austria's leading platform for corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development for over 25 years. The Austrian Business Council for Sustainable Development (ABCSD) was founded in 1997 and merged with respACTAustria to become respACT - Austrian Business Council for Sustainable Development in 2007.
The association supports its more than 380 members on their way to ecological and social sustainability. In addition to representing a network of committed managers and a wide range of experts, respACT's mission is to raise public awareness of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development through media coverage.
Austrian companies are committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development and conduct their business accordingly. They are firmly convinced that economic success and social and ecological responsibility are interdependent and must not be separated. They take their responsibility towards the market and employees, society and the environment as the core of their activities. The sustainability objectives serve as a guideline in the definition of their objectives and in their daily activities
respACT offers its members a space for knowledge transfer on current CSR topics by inspiring good practice and connecting key players from business, science, politics and civil society. In addition to workshops and webinars, respACT annually co-organizes TRIGOS - the Austrian Award for Responsible Business, ASRA - the Austrian Award for Sustainability Reporting. In addition, respACT annually hosts the leading event for CSR managers in Austria, the csrTAG (csrDAY).
respACT is an official partner of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and CSR Europe. respACT has also been coordinating the Global Compact Network Austria since 2004. respACT thus acts as an advocate for the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
