respACT - Austrian business council for sustainable development is for more than 20 years Austria's leading platform for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development. The Austrian Business Council for Sustainable Development (ABCSD) was founded in 1997 and merged with respACTAustria to respACT – austrian business council for sustainable development in 2007.
The association supports its members along the path to ecological and social sustainability. Besides representing a network of engaging managers and a diverse range of experts, respACT’s mission is to raise the public’s awareness on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development through media coverage.
Austrian enterprises are committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development and conduct their business accordingly. It is their firm conviction that economic success as well as social and ecological responsibility are interdependent and should not be separated. They embrace their responsibility towards marketplace as well as employees, society and environment at the core business. The Sustainable Development Goals act as a guideline in their goal-setting and daily operations.
Throughout the year respACT offers its members room for knowledge transfer on current CSR topics by inspiring good-practices and connecting key stakeholders from fields of economy, science, politics and civil society. Besides workshops and webinars, respACT yearly co-organises the TRIGOS- the Austrian award for responsible businesses, the ASRA- Austrian Sustainability Reporting Award. Moreover, respACT hosts the flagship-event for CSR managers in Austria, the CSR-Tag (CSR-Day) every year.
respACT is an official partner of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and CSR Europe. respACT also coordinates the Global Compact Network Austria since 2004. The Austrian businesses council acts therefore as an advocate for the successful attainment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
