Shared commitment, concerted action and transparent progress

Each FSG member must demonstrate leadership and commitment to sustainable development. To track and show individual and joint progress in sustainability, the FSG reports annually on the group’s performance across six core environmental and societal commitments.

As a sign of our shared commitment and as a condition of our FSG membership, FSG members endorse and adhere to a set of Membership Principles and Responsibilities. We report annually on associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and collect supporting information to measure and show our joint progress in sustainability in accordance with internationally recognized reporting practices and standards. These indicators cover six key areas of sustainability for the forest sector:

  1. Landscape, Forest Management & Fiber Sourcing
  2. Resource Management
  3. Energy & Climate
  4. Water Stewardship
  5. Health & Safety
  6. Supply Chain & Employees

The KPIs demonstrate the key role of the forest value chain to global sustainability by contributing to multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in addition to climate change mitigation.
