The WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) announces a new branded content series, The Collective, to be produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions.
As change and uncertainty accelerate across the global economy, businesses are navigating an increasingly complex operating environment, from shifting geopolitical dynamics to evolving regulation, supply chain pressure and rising physical risks. Against this backdrop, businesses are balancing immediate demands with moving forward on vital sustainable development resilience and transformation agendas.
Representing industries from energy and food systems to finance and the built environment, WBCSD brings together sectors at the centre of these shifts. Each faces its own realities, but all are working through the same core collective challenge: how to adapt, build resilience, collaborate and drive meaningful change at pace in a world that isn’t standing still. By working collectively – across value chains, and by connecting demand, investment and execution – companies can be better positioned to accelerate progress deliver outcomes that are both commercially viable and systemically impactful.
Launching later this year, The Collective will be a branded series presented by WBCSD. Across three chapters the series will explore how sustainability performance can be increasingly a driver of long-term competitiveness, and how collective business action can accelerate progress at scale:
- Resilience Shift: exploring the shift from extractive growth to more regenerative models that can help restore ecosystems, accelerate emissions reduction and strengthen climate and resource resilience. It will spotlight organisations pioneering approaches that aim to rebuild natural systems while delivering commercial value and examine how cross-sector collaboration is accelerating innovation.
- Just Transition: examining how organisations are looking to embed greater inclusion, equity and dignity across their value chains, from sourcing and employment to product design and delivery. It will explore how companies are partnering with local communities to co-create solutions that are context-specific and more inclusive, and business strategies which expand access, representation and agency.
- The Changemakers: highlighting the business leaders and cross-sector teams within the WBCSD network who are translating ambition into measurable impact, understanding how they align finance, operations and greater sustainability; how they build coalitions across industries; and how they embed accountability into decision-making.
Through immersive, human-centred storytelling, the series will spotlight the business leaders, innovators and cross-sector coalitions, surfacing replicable, scalable and credible examples from companies translating commitments into tangible outcomes.
Launching alongside key global sustainability moments across 2026 and 2027, the series will live on a dedicated branded microsite on BBC.com. It will be supported by a global digital campaign engaging relevant audiences from across the platform’s 165 million monthly visitors, with amplification through WBCSD’s global member network.
Organisations with stories aligned to these themes are invited to express interest via a short submission form by 30th April. For further information, please contact: Isobel Hale, Series Developer, BBC StoryWorks: Isobel.hale@bbc.com
Following review, selected organisations will be invited to discuss engaging BBC StoryWorks’ creative teams to produce a branded piece for the series, which will require a fee determined by production variables.
