Overview
CBD COP17 will unite representatives of the Parties to the Convention, alongside Indigenous peoples and local communities, civil society, scientists, youth, businesses and other stakeholders to advance global action for biodiversity.
The conference comes at a defining moment for the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). For the first time since its adoption in 2022, countries will collectively review progress towards the Framework’s 23 targets, shifting the focus from commitments to evidence and from what was agreed to what has been achieved.
COP17 will provide a critical opportunity to assess collective progress, strengthen cooperation, and accelerate action towards the global biodiversity goals for 2030. WBCSD’s delegation aims to contribute to the negotiated agenda and highlight the impactful work being delivered through the collective and individual efforts of our membership.

Global Review: collective progress and implementation gaps
WBCSD and its members will bring concrete examples and evidence of businesses managing their nature exposure and contributing to halting and reversing nature loss by 2030. To accelerate action, the work highlights the gaps and the benefits of measurement consistency, so that progress can be credibly tracked and performance meaningfully compared.
Mainstreaming Biodiversity: across sectors and value chains
WBCSD is releasing its 6th roadmap, focused on the Chemicals sector. Together with Business for Nature and the World Economic Forum, the Sector Actions work covers 15 sectors, all to be integrated into the Nature Action Portal, a user-friendly tool to help companies explore their dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities, identify priority actions, and find the metrics to disclose progress in line with mandatory and voluntary frameworks. WBCSD will also amplify its playbook on embedding nature into decision-making across key corporate functions.
Resource Mobilization: addressing the nature finance gap
WBCSD’s nature-based solutions work builds the demand side of the nature finance gap: it brings together corporates in land-based value chains and investors to turn nature-related risks into scalable, nature-based investment opportunities across landscapes. To unlock investment in nature-based solutions, we equip corporates and investors with practical metrics, financial models, and opportunities to collaborate around shared landscape challenges. This enables them to translate nature-related risks into investable and scalable solutions.
