Future-Proof Agriculture and Food Value Chains

Introduction

Who we are?

The Challenge
1.

The Challenge

Climate change poses physical risks to agrifood systems, from reducing crop yields and exacerbating food insecurity to disrupting supply chains. At the same time, our current agrifood system contributes to pressing global challenges. It causes approximately 25% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, three-quarters of biodiversity loss and is a leading cause of non-communicable disease.

The Business Case
2.

The Business Case

Forward-thinking businesses understand that decarbonizing agrifood systems can drive value chain resilience, open innovation pathways, and promote long-term competitiveness. They are investing in the transition toward regenerative, equitable and nutritious agrifood systems.

The Solution
3.

The Solution

WBCSD and its members work together to scale regenerative agriculture, halt land-use change to protect nature, and shift toward healthier and more sustainable diets to drive climate impact, nature protection and value chain resilience. Together, we are developing and adopting best-practice metrics, standards and protocols to inform decision-making; taking action at the landscape level; and advocating for an enabling policy and finance environment.
