Introduction

01

Policymakersย needย to ensureย thatย mobility data sharing between public and private stakeholdersย isย aligned with sustainable mobility objectives.ย

Theย lack of coordinated policy actionsย canย exacerbate urban mobility challenges while threateningย core public values such as equality, privacy and security.ย We are collaborating withย the International Road Federation (IRF) andย theย SuM4ALL consortiumย to create aย globalย policy framework that seeksย toย guide critical areas of policy intervention. This work also offers actionable and specific guidance to policymakers.ย

The challenge

03

The rapidly evolving mobility landscape lacksย a holistic policy framework around data sharing.

Risks and benefits of data sharing areย valued differently across geographies and policy approaches also vary.ย Bestย practices are not clearly established, especially withย regardsย to value exchange,ย data governance models and cross-sectoral data sharing.ย The lack of policy around data sharing in mobility has often caused negative outcomes including monopolization of the data economy, violations of privacy and adverse health and environmental impacts.ย

The business case

03

Sharing data could create immense value, contributing to economic development, job creation and strengthening of local innovation and research capabilities.

A comprehensive policy framework can support rapid scaling of effective, secure, and ethical data sharing.ย Businesses holdย aย valuable perspectiveย on the evolution of technologies and business modelsย that should be incorporated intoย any policymaking process.ย

The Solution

04

A sound policy framework is vital to the development and scaling of effective, economically viable, secure, and ethical data sharing models to achieve a more accessible, efficient, safe, and green mobility system.ย

It can align data-sharing initiatives to the achievement of sustainable mobility objectives, ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect core public values such as equity, privacy, and security and capture broader economic value by establishing a fair and competitive market that prevents data monopolies and supports innovative organizations of all sizes.
