Geneva, 2 May 2017: Barry Callebaut is the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products – from sourcing and processing cocoa beans to producing the finest chocolates, including chocolate fillings, decorations and compounds. Barry Callebaut is committed to making sustainable chocolate the norm by 2025 to help ensure future supplies of cocoa and improve farmer livelihoods. It supports the Cocoa Horizons Foundation in its goal to shape a sustainable cocoa and chocolate future.

Barry Callebaut’s CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique stated: “There is a very natural fit between the purpose of Barry Callebaut to make sustainable chocolate the norm and WBCSD’s purpose to define business solutions to sustainable challenges. The broad membership of WBCSD and its thematic working groups will allow Barry Callebaut to scale up our impact beyond cocoa and chocolate.”

WBCSD CEO and President Peter Bakker said “Consumers are becoming more and more conscious of how sustainably their food is produced. As a leading manufacturer of chocolate and cocoa, Barry Callebaut is committed to ensuring that many of our most beloved products are produced responsibly. I look forward to working with Barry Callebaut to further developing this approach, particularly as part of our Climate Smart Agriculture program.”
