Some of your thoughts on Sustainable Development:

“Sustainable Development is no longer a philanthropic concept but a world reality. 2015 was a landmark year to confirm this. With the Paris agreement following the COP21 conference on climate change and the launch of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, a new framework has been set up to address the planet’s most critical issues. It is our responsibility to contribute to this achievement. Companies can no longer only focus on traditional financial metrics but also on adding value to society and environment.”

What were the reasons for joining the WBCSD Leadership Program?

“I started in sustainability after having held different positions in Operations and Health & Safety. As I did not have a deep knowledge on the topic, I was offered to join the WBCSD Leadership Program to gain a deeper understanding on sustainability management as applied in a global corporate framework. I cannot be happier to have been given this opportunity.”

Why is this year’s topic important?

“In the current context and the raising awareness about the world’s main challenges, business, social innovation, strategy, and finance have to work together to successfully perform. During the different modules of the Program, it has been extremely interesting to see different examples on how social innovation is embedded in corporate strategies to bring added value.”

How did the Program help in achieving your objectives?

“I have not only learned a lot about all sustainability but was also truly inspired by the teachers, the speakers, and the colleagues.”

Your personal comments on the program

“Unsurpassable opportunity of gaining an overall view of sustainability areas from both theoretical and practical lenses, from many different sectors and perspectives whilst meeting fantastic people from all over the world. Outstanding program overall.”
