Cities & Mobility

More than half of the global population lives in cities, and it is projected that over the next two decades over 1 million people will move to cities every week. To reach the Sustainable Development Goals in cities provides a significant business opportunity estimated at 3.7tn USD by 2030, in the areas of housing, building efficiency, mobility, water and sanitation. Businesses are developing many solutions that can support urban sustainability, but they need a strategic engagement process to understand cities’ needs and place their solutions in a holistic context.

    Sustainable Cities

Each city has its own sustainable challenges and priorities and need to involve key stakeholders in defining their sustainable pathway. The Cities program offers a space for interactions between cities, businesses and citizen to engage with each other, build a common vision and develop suitable innovative solutions. The role of the private sector is critical for providing expertise, strategic approach and financial capacity to deliver tailored sustainable solutions at local levels for a global outreach.

    Transforming Urban Mobility

Transforming Urban Mobility brings together leading companies across the extended mobility value chain to spearhead the mobility system transformation. We have three projects across three intersecting areas: decarbonization, digitalization and behavior change. Through these projects, we develop tools, guidance and policy recommendations to support the transport sector on its path to achieving global climate targets and Sustainable Development Goals. We design and advocate for solutions that help companies advance their own sustainability transition and play a leading role in delivering sustainable urban mobility in cities around the world.
