Geneva, Switzerland, 1 March 2023—RSK has joined a group of over 200 of the world’s leading sustainable businesses as the newest member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
RSK is a world leader in environmental science, research, engineering and technical services comprising 175 companies in 40 countries with 11000 employees. It is also the second-largest environmental consultancy in the U.K.
The company drives sustainability issues at its highest levels, as exemplified by the appointment of two new directors to its board, Chief Scientist Lucy Thomas and Chief Sustainability Officer Stephanie Wray RSK. RSK explains that these new additions to its board will support the company’s commitment to delivering progress against the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are at the heart of the Group’s business strategy.
Operating in most sectors of the economy, including many of those most critical to a sustainable future, such as water, energy, food and drink, transport, property and construction and mining and waste, RSK believes that sustainability is the defining business issue of our generation and as such, should be the basis of open innovation and collaboration, not competition. RSK will add to the strength of WBCSD’s existing members to make a collective difference for the benefit of future generations and the natural environment.
RSK has joined the Nature Imperative to support tackling the nature crisis. RSK will be engaging with the Nature Positive and nature-based solutions pathways, bringing their experience from working with businesses on biodiversity assessments and strategies, as well as designing and delivering nature-based solutions. The newest member of WBCSD is committed to pioneering a proactive business role around biodiversity and encourages using various metrics, including disclosure, in line with the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).
