One Acre Fund

One Acre Fund is a nonprofit organization that supplies over a million smallholder farmers in Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda with financing and training to build resilience. Their response to the COVID-19 crisis is multifaceted and the field teams have outdone themselves:

  • On the operations front, they accelerated the delivery of key farming supplies such as seeds and fertilizer to ensure restrictions would not be overly disruptive;
  • On the digital front, they offered virtual support via a hotline and enabled farmers’ access to extension services;
  • On the health front, they distributed masks and soaps, as well as a DIY guideline to build washing stations at home.
