Geneva, 11 November 2020: Today, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) launched the Circular Economy Action Plan 2020 – Summary for business together with Guidehouse.

What does the Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) 2020 mean for my business? What will be the key barriers and enablers for my company and sector to effectively implement it? How is this document related to the EU Green Deal? These are the types of questions discussed in this publication.

The business summary describes the EU’s CEAP 2020 and key sector specific implications for business while including recommendations for the business community on how to best embrace the transition to a circular economy.

Moving to a circular economy not only constitutes a USD $4.5 trillion opportunity but also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement – and while circular economy policies are diverse and emerging quickly, understanding these new legislations can be complex but is essential for large companies to effectively future-proof their operations. Furthermore, acquiring knowledge on current and upcoming policies on the circular economy will constitute a real competitive advantage for companies.
