Concerns over land degradation are now mobilizing the international community, and there are a growing number of global initiatives aiming at increasing government commitments on land restoration.

What is Land Degradation Neutrality? And why is it important for business?

Land is an essential asset for business and its degradation represents a major risk for many companies in sectors ranging from agriculture and forestry to those that have indirect links to land via supply or value chains. Concerns over land degradation are now mobilizing the international community, and there are a growing number of global initiatives aiming at increasing government commitments on land restoration.

A Declaration of Intent signed on 22 April between the WBCSD, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched the Road to Ankara. This process formalizes business-government collaboration in sustainable land management and land restoration in the lead up to UNCCD COP12 in October 2015.

The new flyer developed by our Ecosystems & Landscape Management Cluster is now available to answer questions on Land Degradation Neutrality, why it is important for business to engage and how. Find out how the WBCSD is working with the UNCCD and the Turkish government for a Land Degradation Neutral world and learn about the many issues surrounding land degradation.
