Under the terms of the letter, both organizations expressed their willingness to jointly promote corporate sustainable development in China. EFG and WBCSD will join hands in the global movement to explore potential practices in advancing sustainable development and make efforts to further promote eco-civilization.

Both organizations are looking forward to seeing this cooperation facilitate engagement in their respective events, activities and programs in the future.

In 2016 the EFG 2016 Annual Conference is focusing on “green development and actions”, in an effort to crystallize and better implement the agreements and decisions reached at the SDG Summit in New York in September 2015, COP21 in Paris in December 2015 and in China’s Thirteenth Five-Year Plan.

WBCSD has co-developed a sub-forum on the circular economy at the conference, to explore collaborative opportunities in China that will help accelerate the transition to a low-carbon world.

The session will bring together Chinese business representatives, government bodies and other experts to explore pathways to achieving sustainable material use and accelerating the transition towards a circular economy in China. Business leaders from industries including steel, consumer goods, chemicals, and energy will join together with government leaders to understand what business is doing to move towards circular materials and products, and how Chinese policy is enabling this transition.

The Chinese translation of the SDG Compass was launched at the conference on the same day. Developed jointly by WBCSD, the UN Global Compact and GRI, the SDG Compass is a tool which helps companies to align their strategy and operations to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and measure and manage their contributions.
