Food Systems Modeling: Mexico Case Study

A better understanding of the food system is key for the private sector to identify its role in improving and transforming it. Companies need to take into account emerging trends and challenges to identify potential areas for intervention on sustainability and health.

FReSH has commissioned an approach for food system modeling and has run a pilot study for the Mexican food system. The approach in the toolkit is a holistic assessment of food system activities and their outcomes, and aims at identifying the driving forces behind desirable and undesirable food system outcomes. Food system experts discussed the findings and explored promising food system interventions for different actors during an interactive workshop in Mexico City.
