Data Sharing Principles

Data is a key enabler of the mobility transformation. With this project, WBCSD is bringing business together to agree on the principles of data-sharing that will enable sustainable urban mobility management across public and private stakeholders

The challenge

Data is becoming ubiquitous and its generation and usage is centric to the transformation of our mobility system. Data is also incredibly valuable and provides a powerful enabler for mobility transformation if shared.

The business case

By 2020 there will be 50 billion objects connected to the internet. Connected vehicles are forecast to generate trillions of dollars between 2015 and 2020. Additionally, the rise of 5G creates further business opportunities. Understanding the value of data beyond its commercial purpose will open new spaces in the future of mobility management, and mobility operations.

The solution

By outlining the value data can take for each stakeholder of the urban value chain, our leading members and experts will position business on the principles of data sharing for a sustainable mobility system.
