Background information

BCSD Türkiye is a non-profit business association, established in 2004 to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future in Türkiye.

Its mission is to contribute to the policy development and to increase the competitiveness of the Turkish businesses in parallel to sustainable development principles.

BCSD  helps companies understand the concept of Sustainable Development as well as to implement Sustainable Development into their daily business practices; it creates a platform which enables interaction among business leaders, government, NGOs and civil society at a national and international level. It also leverages best practices, generates knowledge and creates partnerships.

BCSD Türkiye has 95 member companies and the members come from 24 different business sectors creating 1/5 of the Turkish GNP with 750,000 employees. It creates a network where members drive sustainability projects forward; learn from other leading companies; interact with the strongest partners and gain access to tools and expertise to push their sustainability journey forward.

Being part of the Global Network of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) makes it possible to bring the global expertise to Türkiye.

UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) create the strategic framework of BCSD Türkiye’s work. With 5 focus areas and Working Groups, programs are developed and projects are created to reach SDGs in Türkiye.

The focus areas are the following:

Transition to Low Carbon Economy and Energy Efficiency

Sustainable Agriculture and Access to Food
