Forética's Climate Change Cluster takes action to decarbonize the economy by 2050

After the outstanding progress made by the Cluster during last year, focused on establishing the key areas companies should consider in the transition towards a low-carbon economy, the COVID-19 crisis reveals more than ever that now is the time to increase the ambition of the objectives and focus on action, developing specific solutions and tools for business transformation by 2050.

Specifically, the Cluster will deepen into how companies should establish neutrality targets for 2050 and their action plan; reduce CO₂ emissions; integrate recommendations from the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and climate risk management; develop innovative business models that ensure the energy transition; apply nature-based solutions as part of their climate strategy; and use innovative financial options aligned to climate ambition.

“To achieve this global ambition of climate neutrality by 2050, companies must act as the transition driving force, where the establishment of robust and up-to-date legislation will be a fundamental lever. In this sense, both at the European level -with the European Green Deal and the European Climate Law-, and at the national level -with the Climate Change and Energy Transition Law-, we have devised the main transition roadmap focused on achieving these ambitious goals. Now, more than ever, alliances and collaboration at all levels - within the public-private sphere and at a sectoral level - play a fundamental role in order to take action” said Ana Herrero, Projects and Services Director at Forética.
