Climate Investment Funds

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) are designed to support low-carbon and climate-resilient development through scaled-up financing channeled through the African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Inter-American Development Bank and World Bank Group. The CIF includes the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) and the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF), which has three programs: the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR), the Forest Investment Program (FIP) and Scaling up renewable energy program in low-income countries (SREP).

The WBCSD was asked to design and facilitate the self-selection of private sector observers to these Funds. For further information on the process please read the Climate Investment: Business Guide (PDF available on http://climateinvestmentfunds.com).

The next Partnership Forum is on June 24-25, 2011 and then the CIF committee and sub-committee meetings are on June 27-30, 2011. The Partnership Forum is a gathering of all CIF stakeholders to share lessons learned from the CIF design process and from early implementation of CIF-funded programs. CIF stakeholders are: country governments, civil society, indigenous peoples, multilateral partners, private sector, and other development partners.

For more information on the funds, including documents please email to the Climate Investment Fund at climate@wbcsd.org with any questions or comments.
