Overview

WBCSD’s Vision 2050 envisions a world where 9 billion people live well and within the limits of the planet. For this to materialize, a new mindset is needed with a deep understanding of how our planetary boundaries and the role of business interact. Leaders with such an understanding, training and values are key to making the decisions that will make Vision 2050 a reality.

To support the education of today’s and tomorrow’s business leaders with regards to sustainable development, WBCSD has developed tools and will continue on developing the tools and training needed to better understand the roles of Natural, Social and Financial Capital.

Engaging with Science

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and Stockholm Resilience Centre have engaged in an innovative collaboration to ensure future business solutions are based on the best scientific analysis.  The collaboration signals that WBCSD has committed to integrating scientific analysis and resilience thinking into projects focused on accelerating business solutions for sustainability.

In addition, WBCSD has appointed its first Professor-in-Residence, Professor Dr. Gail Whiteman, to provide academic advice and help set priorities for the WBCSD's work program and its executive education programs.
