Background information
econsense – Forum for Sustainable Development of German Business, is an association of leading globally-active German companies with a shared objective of promoting sustainable development and corporate responsibility. Founded in 2000 as an initiative of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), econsense today is one of the leading corporate platforms for dialogue with politics, science, media and societal groups on the overall concept of sustainable development. The forum is also used by its members for the mutual exchange of competence aimed at achieving shared goals and identifying best practice.

Our issues include:

  • Climate & Energy:

  • Demographic change:

  • Ecosystems and Biodiversity;

  • Projects and internet portals;
  • Dialogue events – including the annual “in Dialogue meetings, workshops on numerous specialist issues, and our “Sustainability Get-togethers” in Berlin;
  • Our dialogue papers, position papers, and other publications;
  • Examples of best practice in companies;
  • Newsletter on a quarterly basis;
  • Journalism prize and Sustainability training of young journalists.
