The Road to Paris & Beyond: Lima COP 20



In December 2015 a new global climate agreement will be brokered in Paris at the UNFCCC COP 21. This will mark a key moment to shape the post-2020 climate regime. Much groundwork at national, international and non-State levels needs to be done on the ‘Road to Paris’ to lock-in ambition. WBCSD is leading business in several key collaborative processes to support an upwards spiral of ambition towards a positive outcome.

The upcoming UNFCCC COP 20 in Peru is an imperative milestone. Business leaders are ready to build on the unprecedented recent momentum and call on governments for concrete steps in Lima, supporting delivery of a universal, ambitious and balanced climate agreement in Paris next year.

The US and China strike ambitious deal to cut emissions



Today, an agreement struck between the US and China provides an important boost to international efforts to reach a global deal on reducing GHG emissions beyond 2020 as part of the UN-led process. The WBCSD strongly supports the unprecedented joint announcement of ambition on climate change targets by the US and China, which together produce around 45 percent of the world's CO2 emissions.

Business - setting the pace

Atlanta 2014 - Council Member week



This years Council Member Week will be held in Atlanta, USA.

From 3 - 6 November, WBCSD members’ CEOs, senior executives and 70 Global Network partners will gather to address some of the most pressing global challenges. The week-long event, hosted last year in Istanbul, is expected to draw some 350 attendees from the world’s leading companies.

4th Forum on the Climate-Water-Energy Security Nexus



On June 12, 2014, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the WBCSD will be hosting the 4th Forum on the Climate-Water-Energy Security Nexus, which will explore impacts of climate change on the water-energy equation and discuss the way-forward on how the energy sector can enhance its resilience to climate change.
