SMP is a data-driven, multi-stakeholder approach that helps cities accelerate progress towards multimodal, inclusive and low-environmental impact mobility.
The Sustainable Mobility Project (SMP) is scaling up: we are developing partnerships to help cities worldwide use the SMP2.0 methodology and tools as they develop sustainable urban mobility plans.
SMP has been successful in six demonstrator cities and the quality of the SMP tools is being widely recognized as shown by the endorsement of the European Commission and its nomination to be a Transport Quickwin* at COP22. Contact us if you are interested in implementing sustainable mobility in your city!
SMP has for vision to extend universal access to safe, inclusive and low-environmental impact mobility. The application of SMP process will increase Road Safety (3.6), Energy Efficiency (7.3; 12.4), Urban Access (11.2) and mitigate Air pollution (3.9) and Climate Change (13.2). SMP works to base decisions in facts for more accountable Institutions (16.6). SMP promotes effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships (17.16-17) for participative, representative and inclusive decision making (16.7) in Sustainable Urban Mobility planning (9.1, 11.6). SMP tools are easy to engage with and the process is developed to ensure capacity-building (17.9) for data collection and monitoring (17.18) as well as for solution implementation (17.8) and sustainable financing.
