Sustainability - A new competence for financial leaders

Companies more and more see good sustainability performance as a proxy and a leading indicator for sound management and financial results in the long term.

This is the main reason why one of the 2014 Future Leaders group decided to develop the booklet “Sustainability: a new competence for financial leaders” - 6 reasons why you should care.

This document is not only a good reason to start a conversation while providing it to any finance interlocutor, but it also helps addressing three main reasons retaining finance people off the debate:

·         Lack of knowledge about interactions between finance and sustainability

·         Lack of interest from finance people who might think they don’t have anything to gain from their involvement

·         Lack of vision about their role and actions they could take

After being tested with success with several finance interlocutors who liked its conciseness and evidence-based approach, the group believes it could definitely help to develop interactions with finance community but also could be adapted to other audience in order to broaden the debate.

“It is the first time a saw something so summarized and objective related to Sustainability” AkzoNobel Controller

“I am pretty sure with the booklet you can make the finance people aware about the relevance of integrating Sustainability” ABB Investor Relations
