Business Takes its Views to Poznan Climate Conference

Poznań, 1 December 2008 - The WBCSD and its members will be on the ground at UNFCCC's 14th Conference of the Parties in Poznań to contribute to the debate and present their thinking and proposals for a policy framework once the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012.

The issues of technology, carbon markets, energy efficiency & demand side management, sectoral approaches, adaptation and forestry are high on the agenda of business contributors.

The WBCSD, in partnership with the ICC, will host the Poznań Business Day on 9 December 2008. This event will bring together business leaders with representatives from governments in a series of high-level panel discussions to explore some of the business-led solutions to the challenge presented by climate change.

Panelists will represent a broad cross-section of regional, national, and sectoral perspectives, to present a global vision of a post-2012 international policy framework.

“In these difficult financial times, it is important for business to make itself heard about the future,” said Björn Stigson , WBCSD President. “ The Poznań Business Day clearly shows that business has the ideas, expertise and willingness to play a real role in combating climate change.”

In addition to this event, the WBCSD will also host several side events in Poznań.
