"Everyone Concerned with Buildings has to Change the Way they Think About Energy"

The Energy Efficiency in Buildings project Facts & Trends full report ( 3 MB) is now available. 14 companies (Actelios, ArcelorMittal, Bosch, CEMEX, DuPont, EDF, GdF, Kansai, LAFARGE, Philips, Skanska, Sonae Sierra, Tepco and UTC, co-chaired by LAFARGE and UTC) headquartered in 9 countries have studied and synthesized an exceptional data set reflecting more than 100 billion square meters of building floor space and two-thirds of world energy demand.

The result is a significantly more detailed view of the current state of energy demand in the building sector than has previously been compiled.

Importantly, it concludes that all participants can immediately drive down world energy demand and reduce carbon emissions using technologies and knowledge available today.

The EEB vision is a world in which buildings consumer zero net energy. Its mission is to transform building energy by:

  • Leading a market transformation of how buildings use energy;
  • Stimulating innovations and new business models affecting market demand and the supply chain;
  • Broadly communicating this transformation.
