Novartis: Encouraging an energy-efficient culture in the company

Novartis provides innovative healthcare solutions that address the evolving needs of patients and societies, and offers a diversified portfolio to best meet these needs: innovative medicines, eye care, cost-saving generic pharmaceuticals, preventive vaccines and diagnostic tools, over-the-counter and animal health products. The company operates in more than 140 countries.

Novartis strives to create value through responsible business. As part of its environmental sustainability program, the company puts a focus on energy efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions – although the pharmaceutical industry is not an energy-intensive sector.

In an effort to drive employee engagement and to achieve its ambitious energy efficiency and GHG emission reduction targets, Novartis introduced the annual Energy Excellence Awards (EEA), a global motivational program to recognize associates who help to lessen the company’s carbon footprint.
