Montevideo, Uruguay, 12 May 2017: DERES, WBCSD’s Global Network partner in Uruguay, held a successful conference around the business implications of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
DERES has recently chosen the SDGs as one of its strategic work program themes, and is engaging closely with the Uruguayan government in view of acting as a liaison between the country’s public and private sector.

Building on workshops around the application of the SDG Compass, the conference in mid-May gathered the following panelists in a lively discussion about business risks and opportunities linked to the Global Goals:

  • Álvaro García, Director of the Office of Planning of Budgeting, which is in charge of the SDGs agenda for the Uruguayan government
  • Ana Muro, Specialist in CSR and Sustainability at BCSD Argentina (CEADS), also a Global Network partner of WBCSD
  • Jorge Ginel, CEO of Unilever Uruguay
