This program seeks to understand the world that we need to create — technically, practically and emotionally — to enable and inspire more sustainable lifestyles.
Efforts to promote sustainable consumption often focus either on incremental product improvements or single points of behavior change. However, products are used within existing infrastructures and use can account for greater impacts than production.
Sustainable lifestyles will require more than improvements to existing product portfolios. By looking at where we live, how we move around and what we eat, we can explore solutions at a systemic level, considering products, infrastructure, technology, business models, behaviors and aspirations.
Our Sustainable Lifestyles work is focused on three main areas, reframing the traditional consumption and production challenge as a systemic innovation opportunity for business to turn its significant resources towards. We are challenging today in order to create tomorrow.
Sustainable Lifestyles links to the 2030 targets set out in nearly all of the SDGs. Focus will be on SDG12 (Responsible Consumption and Production ) but we also touch on SDGs 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14, 15, 17 (Hunger, Health, Water and Sanitation, Energy, Jobs and Economic Growth, Innovation and Infrastructure, Sustainable Communities and Cities, Life Below Water, Life on Land and Partnerships for the goals).
